5.5
Release Date: March 26, 2026
We’ve introduced several improvements to the document and metadata export process. These updates include:
- Expanded Export File Types: Users can now customize their document exports by choosing to download Native documents, Extracted Text, or a combined package of both the Native and Extracted Text.

- File Naming Conventions: You can choose how to name your exported file. In addition to File Name and Document ID, we have added a new option to name exported files by their Name field.

- Status tracking for Export: We’ve added a “Working” status to provide better visibility into active export jobs. When running a big export, you will now see the progress transition through three stages: Queued, Working, and Completed.

We now support multiple Auto Review queues running simultaneously within a single project.
This update allows large-scale Auto Review jobs to run faster, accelerating your review process.
This release includes infrastructure improvements designed to ensure maximum integrity and security.
We’ve completed a routine upgrade to our Elasticsearch engine. This update optimizes storage efficiency, increases search query speed, and strengthens data security.
We’ve resolved an issue where PII remained visible in the document view even after PII Tags were toggled off.
The PII display now correctly syncs with the settings in the Left Panel.
We’ve fixed an issue where Date of Birth (DOB) appeared as a conflict when selecting the Master Entity Element of Grouped Entities even when the Field Conflict Setting is set to “Merge” the Blank Field.
DOB will now only be displayed in the selection list if there is an actual value conflict.
We’ve fixed an issue that prevents users from uploading replacement files for failed uploads.
Users can now upload and process replacement files to clear previously failed uploads.
Release Date: March 27, 2026
We’ve fixed a bug that caused document exports to fail when files contained “surrogate characters” (unrecognized text symbols). The system now automatically strips these incompatible characters during the export process, ensuring all documents export properly.

PDF rendering within the Document View has been improved to correctly display Dynamic XFA PDF files. Documents containing Dynamic XFA PDF forms that do not contain ‘overrides’ will display in the Document View. Form fields with overrides may appear blank in the form view while the text view will contain field values.

To ensure industry-leading data filtering, we now update our NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) database every six months.
The active NIST version is now clearly displayed within the Processing Template.

To provide administrators with deeper visibility and better security oversight, Canopy introduces an enhancement to our User Accounts auditing in the Tenant Event Log.
Administrators can now track the entire lifecycle of user accounts, from account creation and profile updates to security-critical events like password resets and authentication failures. These logs offer granular details, including the initiating administrator’s email, specific changes made to fields, and the security context for any blocked attempts.
New Events Logs on User Account include:
| Events Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Account Management | Logs for when accounts are Added, Updated, Enabled, or Deleted, including role and privilege changes. |
| Status Changes | Automated and manual status updates, including Inactivity Disables, Lockouts due to failed attempts, and Admin Suspensions. |
| Authentication | Detailed tracking of MFA and Password challenge failures to help identify potential brute-force patterns. |
| Password Recovery | Comprehensive logging of the reset lifecycle, including User/Admin requests, Expirations, and security blocks (e.g., IP Mismatches or Replay Attacks). |
| System Notifications | Audit trails for system-generated communications, including Create Email and Add Tenant notifications. |
The application now features improved system resiliency, ensuring that users can continue to log in and view documents without the performance delays previously caused by connection timeouts.

Canopy now offers two PDF viewers within the Document View: the Adobe Standard Viewer and the Mozilla PDF Viewer.
We’ve upgraded the Mozilla PDF viewer to its latest version, which now supports for native XFA rendering. It is important that users review the extracted text, as viewers that support Dynamic XFA PDFs may miss certain information under the following circumstances:
- Differently Stored Values: The viewer can only identify the values tagged in a specific way; values stored any other way will be invisible to it.
- Intentionally Blank Fields: Some fields are explicitly marked as empty in the document, and the viewer respects that.
- Missing Data Container: If the PDF’s data storage area is empty, the PDF rendering is skipped even if values exist elsewhere.
- Mismatched Names: The viewer finds fields by their label path; if the browser renders the form with slightly different labels, it cannot match the values.
- Slow Loading: The viewer only waits ~15 seconds for the form to appear; if the PDF is slow or particularly large, it may miss this window.
- Non-text Fields: Checkboxes, dropdowns, date pickers, and signatures are ignored entirely.
- Password-protected PDFs: Encryption is bypassed but may produce unreadable data for non-standard schemes.
- Unusual Compression: Only the most common compression format is supported; exotic formats produce unreadable data.
- Interactive Logic: Form logic, including calculation or conditional formatting (show, or hide), is not supported.
